After months of increasing symptoms of weakness,
fatigue and apparent jaundice, Yael was admitted to
hospital in September, where she was diagnosed with
Klatskin Tumour – a form of cancer of the gall
bladder and liver. Although it does not metastasize,
it is usually lethal, because by the time the patient
shows symptoms, it is usually too late, as it takes
over most of the liver.
At the end of October Yael underwent an operation in which the cancerous tissue was removed, but in the ten days that followed, her recovery faltered, and finally failed. Mercifully, her final days were spent unconscious and without pain. She is greatly missed by family, friends & colleagues.
